38 Weeks

Today I got a notification on my phone from The Bump app that said “Congrats on week 38!  Your baby is now the size of pumpkin.”  My thought process:

“Awww…how cute!  Wait!  What?  A pumpkin?!?  That’s freaking huge!”

I also received a text from Cole this morning that said “Holy crap it is March, I’m freaking out!”  Haha so we were both having moments this morning.

According to the app baby girl might already have about an inch of hair, be about 19 inches long or more, and weighing in between 6 to 9 lbs.  She is still gaining that cute baby fat and her brain and nervous system are still fine tuning.  She is running out of room so I’m not feeling her kick as much but she still lets me know she is in there.

As far as I go, I’m feeling ok.  I’m tired most of the time and my back and hips are continuing to hurt.  I’ve also been experiencing some sharp pains in my lower abdomen but they never progressed into contraction-like pains.  My belly is continuing to grow and change every week and I think it is starting to drop.

37 Weeks – I think my bump looks higher and rounder last week

I’m having mixed feelings about her arrival.  I’m so excited to meet her, see her little face, count her tiny fingers and toes, hold her close to me, and get to finally experience being a mom.  BUT…I love having her to myself right now.  While I can’t say I love being pregnant I love feeling her kick from within and watching my belly move and bump around.  I also love looking down and seeing this baby bump. There was a long time when I honestly didn’t think I would ever experience pregnancy and know what it feels to have a tiny human growing inside me.  It is really special to me even though I don’t express that part of pregnancy with people often.  Right now she is giving me gentle nudges in the side, it’s so cool!

I finally finished one project for her, I made her a wonky teddy bear.  I have other projects I want to finish but I’m having issues with my sewing machine ugh.

I have been blessed with such wonderful friends showering myself, Cole, and the baby with love and gifts.  I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for that. Of course, I already wrote about the wonderful shower Whit threw us back in November.  Since then, Christina and my book club threw me a special baby book shower so baby girl is on her way to having a nice collection of books.  Then in January Amanda and Stephanie hosted a 3rd OSS baby shower for us.  And last but not least, Susan organized a fun work shower for me where she made an amazing Mexican feast for everyone.  Thank you thank you thank you ladies and all of the guests that came to celebrate this baby girl!!!

Screaming Lunatic

Saturday was a busy day.  I went shopping with a new friend, I napped (pregnancy = exhausted), tried to finish up some Christmas presents (yes I’m late…who is shocked?!), and got a big surprise.  Cole told me that he had to pick up someone from the airport, a guy and his wife who are new to the squadron.  Great!  I’ll stay here, braless in my pjs, mismatched socks, and messy hair and work on some sewing.  Little did I know that Cole is a big fat liar a great husband who had a big surprise in store for me.  While he was gone I thought I heard something and was feeling a little jumpy so when he got home I was a little on edge.  He came upstairs and asked me to come downstairs to show me something.  He knows what effort it takes for me to walk up and down the stairs now so when he requested it I thought it must be important although I was a tad bit annoyed.  When I got down in the kitchen I step in a puddle of water with my mismatched socked feet and got even more annoyed.  Then suddenly Whitney pops her head up from behind the bar and says surprise or something.  I don’t even remember what she said because next thing I know I’m throwing my hands in the air, screaming like a freaking lunatic, and hiding behind Cole lol.  I always see these sweet surprise videos on FB of friends surprising one another and they embrace and sometimes cry but no, I’m the screaming lunatic.  Cole managed to get a bit of it on video but it is so obnoxious with my screaming and my disheveled look that I won’t torture you with it.

Whit is so sweet and decided to come visit and help me with the task of setting up the nursery.  Yesterday we ran some errands and got to ride on a dog sled.  The rest of the week nights will be dedicated to nursery chores and to baking.  I’m so excited to have her here and to spend this time together.  Thank you to Whitney and Cole for making this happen and surprising me so well!

Testing…testing…

My goodness it has been a while.  I’m actually pretty terrible at this blogging thing (not that I thought I would be good at it).  It’s been almost a year (WHAT?!) since our journey to Alaska and I’ve yet to complete the blogs dedicated to our road trip.  It will happen…eventually.  I’m not baking as much this summer so that I can enjoy the long days with Cole and any company we may have and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.  Incidentally enough, I am decorating cookies right now but thought I would jump on here quickly to say hello and that I haven’t given up on the blog all together.

So here are a few pics of the fun we’ve been having this summer.

And how I have been feeling this week…

Roseville, CA Aug 1 – 3, 2014

Cole and I were both really excited to get to Roseville and to see our friends Courtney, Steven, & Kailer.  They moved from Arkansas to California last July so it had been a long time.  We had a great time with them catching up and just relaxing. It was so nice to eat at a table that wasn’t in a restaurant and sleep in a comfortable bed.  Courtney and I had a girls afternoon one day and got pedicures which was fun.  Cole and I both loved playing with Kailer although she really loved Cole more than me.  Whenever my name was mentioned she would say “Bridgett & Cole!” It was very cute.  It’s funny, this was one of my favorite parts of our trip but yet I have very little to write about since it was a very low key few days.  Sometimes those are the best.  Good times with good friends really sums it up.

Not for Good

I’ve lived in several states during my 32 years but there is no doubt where home is. Home is hot, humid, gun-toting, hog-calling, sweet tea drinking, and southern. And I love it. Over the past few weeks I’ve said a lot of goodbyes and shed a lot of tears. This move is very bittersweet to me. I’m not going to say I’m not ready for the new adventure before Cole and I because I really am but saying goodbye is something I don’t want to have to do. Thank you to everyone who made the last few months so memorable during all the stressful times of this big move. I’ve been told that people my age don’t have large close-knit groups of friends. I don’t know if that’s true or not but regardless I feel incredibly blessed for my motley crüe. No matter the distance we will always be friends and there for each other. Not only do I have a fab group of friends but I’m also blessed with a mom who I’m incredibly close with. I’m so lucky for her and so thankful for everything she has done and does for me. These people are what makes it so hard to leave. This may be goodbye but it certainly isn’t for good. Love you guys!
